GM is expanding its collaboration with Honda beyond making hydrogen fuel cells.
The company announced it will supply next-gen batteries for Honda’s EVs, mainly for the North American market.
While both companies are remaining tight-lipped on when they are expected to transition to the new power options, production will begin in 2021.
Electric batteries generally carry a hefty price tag between $10,000 and $12,000, something GM’s new tech is looking to lower dramatically by cutting the cost in half.
With GM’s help, Honda is aiming to ramp up its EV production after 2020.
